What type of wood do you use?
I generally use domestic woods, but in some instances, such as inlay where darker colors are needed, more exotic species are utilized.
Do you use endangered woods?
No endangered woods are used to build my pieces. There are many types of wood that are not endangered and are grown in sustainable ways. The variety of colors and grain pattern in these renewable trees are such that it is not necessary to take trees from non-renewable sources.
What finishes do you use?
I use a modified oil finish for all pieces unless a special finish is required. Oil (predominately tung oil) enhances the beauty of the wood while providing substantial protection. No color (stain) is used to cover the natural beauty of the wood.
